WHO WE ARE

The South Bronx Independent Artists Coalition is a group of artists and artisans who work in the South Bronx neighborhoods of Port Morris and Mott Haven. Founded in 2018, with the goal of broadening our artistic community, we intend to connect, support, and promote South Bronx artists with events and programming throughout the year.

Sarah Sagarin

Sarah Sagarin is a painter based in the South Bronx. She has exhibited extensively in NYC, regionally, and internationally. She is an alumni of the Bronx Museum of the Arts AIM fellowship program.

Treasurer

Naomi Castillo is a Mexican-American painter who recently completed an MFA at the New York Academy of Art. Her chain paintings explore the themes of labor, social class, and restraints. Naomi lives in Mott Haven and paints in Port Morris

Greg Kessler

Public Relations

Greg Kessler is a painter with a studio in Port Morris. He has exhibited in China, Istanbul, New York, and Palm Beach, Fl. 

  

Helena Starcevic

Community Outreach

Helena Starcevic is a ceramicist with a studio in the S. Bronx for the past 6 years. She taught hand building at Greenwich House Pottery until 2016 and now devotes herself full-time to her own studio practice.  

Heidi Johnson

Heidi Johnson was born in Providence,R.I. and attended Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She currently lives and works in the Mott Haven area of the Bronx.
